Rolling With Racists

This blog will be critiquing the novel Save The Pearls: Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt.
I'll be focusing on two angles - first, analyzing how it relates to current society and how it shows the racism inherent in the author's viewpoint, and second, from the standpoint that she wrote this book fully intending to show a reverse-racist society (it doesn't).

By the end of the first chapter, generally one is supposed to care about the protagonist. But I just don’t give any shits about her. I took my computer, which has the StP pdf on it, into the repair shop on August 28th

They didn’t repair it until September 14th, and never called me to let me know it was done, so I didn’t pick it up until the 21st

But anyway I’m back now and will begin queueing up more shitty writings for people to laugh at

So far in this book, we have: White people being displayed on something called the “Beauty Map” even though PoC are supposed to be the desirable group in this society. “Them” used as a descriptor for PoC in a clearly negative way Blackface Eden feeling superior to PoC (I didn’t put up a cap for that part, but it’s there - she considers the workers with “smug satisfaction”) PoC as food/consumables And now we have: Black people being (unnecessarily) violent A white person blurting out a racist slur without thinking Jesus fucking christ, this is so far away from reversing racism it’s ridiculous. This is like Stormfront-style shit.

So.

idk about yall but “raisin-colored” as a descriptor doesn’t exactly scream SEXY to me, which is clearly what Foyt is trying to do here plus it also plays into the whole “PoC are there for consumption” mentality that comes with people describing PoC as “chocolate-skinned” or other food words in today’s society

But WHY are images of them in natural coloring forbidden????? Like ok so the background is that Foyt is giving a giant middle finger to science and claiming that having higher levels of melanin prevents one from getting The Heat (basically cancerous moles) and as such white people are not allowed outside for some reason? It’s not very well explained.

Ok so the government “provided” her with one that she “chose”. What. Also, why do they care about you, Eden? All you’ve done so far is whine because you didn’t send a report that was your job. And why do people hide their bands? All you’ve said it does is “gives you the freedom to travel in your mind”. What does that have to do with living? Why was this worth wasting two paragraphs on? why
